Blepharoplasty for Women
Conveniently located to serve Newport Beach
Eyelid Surgery
The eyes are one of the first features others will notice. Because of the active circular muscles about the eye, it is also one of the earliest facial structures to reveal our age. Dr. Robert Kessler offers eyelid surgery in Newport Beach to rejuvenate the eye area and help patients restore a more youthful facial appearance.
What Can Eyelid Surgery Achieve?
We lose volume in the eyelids and brow while the muscles of the lower lid relax and reveal the fat pads which cushion the eyeball. Not only do drooping eyelids cause a person to look tired and drained, but they can also block peripheral vision. To restore your youthful look, eyelid surgery on the upper and/or lower lids can brighten the face and make a person look more rested.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can correct sagging and drooping skin and muscles of the upper and lower lids. Fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid may be diminished along with bags under the eyes. Excess deposits of fat in the both eyelids can be removed, reducing a puffy appearance. Once treated, a person can look years younger by simply addressing the all-important eye region.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Upper eyelid surgery, or upper blepharoplasty, can be an in-office procedure performed with local anesthesia. Surgery typically takes an hour, though more time is needed for cases where a large amount of tissue needs correction. Incisions are well concealed within the natural folds of the eyelids.
Through the incisions, fat can be repositioned or removed, muscles and tissue can be tightened, and excess skin can be excised. Incisions are typically closed with fine sutures. Blepharoplasty may be performed in conjunction with a browlift or facelift for additional facial rejuvenation. The procedure is also frequently combined with BOTOX® treatments to minimize the appearance of wrinkles or crow’s feet around the eyes.
Your Blepharoplasty for Women will be performed in Dr. Robert Kessler's surgery center located in Corona Del Mar.
What to Expect After Eyelid Surgery
Swelling and bruising will occur during your recovery after eyelid surgery, but this will usually resolve by 5-7 days. Once subsided, patients are able to see the result of the procedure, including less heavy or puffy looking eyelids and a more alert appearance.
Many also notice a renewed ability to see a broader visual field without straining. Until swelling is gone, keeping the head elevated and the use of cold compresses can help to reduce puffiness.
There is typically little pain associated with blepharoplasty, but Dr Kessler is able to prescribe medication if needed to control discomfort or prevent dry eyes. You are able to continue light activity, though strenuous activity should be avoided for four weeks. Any stitches that need removal can be taken out after 5 days.

01 What is a Blepharoplasty?
A Blepharoplasty, otherwise known as an Eyelid Lift, is a surgical procedure designed to restore a youthful appearance to the eye area. By removing excess skin and bulging fat from either the upper or lower eyelid, the signs of aging can be dramatically improved.
-
02 How is a Blepharoplasty performed?
To perform the Upper Lid Blepharoplasty, Dr. Kessler will begin with a small incision in the crease of the upper eyelid; for a Lower Lid Blepharoplasty, he will make a tiny incision on the inside of the lower eyelid, or below the lower lashes. Once the incisions have been made, Dr. Kessler will excise excess fat and skin, repositioning the remaining tissue for a youthful appearance. The incisions are then sutured closed.
