Liposuction
When leaning out and exercise still don’t get rid of those stubborn fat deposits don’t despair. Liposuction is the answer. Liposuction removes diet resistant fatty deposits on your abdomen, waist, and neck. Ideally liposuction is used as a finishing tool to achieve what you physically cannot.
Ideal candidates are healthy and within 30 percent of their ideal weight, do not smoke and have good skin tone.
Liposuction techniques include the super-wet and tumescent techniques. Super-wet and tumescent liposuction both involve the injection of a solution which contains an anesthetic, epinephrine, and saline. The difference between these two methods is less fluid is used with the super-wet technique. This solution minimizes blood loss while maximizing the amount of fat which can be effectively removed from the area. It also provides an anesthetic which aids in the recovery. Small incisions, about a centimeter, are placed within garment lines or the belly button. A cannula is inserted into each incision and manipulated to loosen the fatty deposits. The cannula is attached to a vacuum or syringe to remove the excess fat.
The length of time in body surgery depends on the number and size of each of the areas operated upon. Following liposuction, compression garments are worn to prevent fluid collections and minimize swelling.
Generally speaking, the compression garment is left on for the first four to five days. Sponge bathing is required at this time. Dr. Kessler will discuss how you must care for yourself once you’re home, medications you should take, and when to arrange a follow up appointment.
Surgery is performed in an accredited outpatient surgical facility. The first week you can be up and about but don’t overexert yourself. No exercise or cardio for the first two weeks. Swelling and bruising are usually minimal. Swelling and bruising gradually diminish over 7 to 10 days. You’ll return to have stitches removed on postoperative day 5.
You can return to work by 5-7 days and begin resuming your usual routine by two weeks. Maintaining your weight through diet and exercise following liposuction will guarantee your new contour will last.
Your Liposuction Surgery for Men will be performed in Dr. Robert Kessler's surgery center located in Corona Del Mar.

01 What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a plastic surgery procedure designed to eliminate excess fatty tissue in a targeted area, improving the body’s shape and contour.
-
02 How is Liposuction performed?
To begin the Liposuction procedure, Dr. Kessler will make several tiny incisions in the designated area. From here, a cannula (small tube) is inserted; then moving back and forth, the cannula will loosen the fatty deposits. Using suction, the fat is then removed through the cannula. Sutures will be used to close the incisions.

03 Is there more than one Liposuction technique are available?
There are three Liposuction techniques available. Which method is best will depend on the specific patient’s needs.
- Super-wet: A solution of anesthetic, epinephrine, and saline is first injected into the targeted area. Next, the cannula will loosen the fat and eliminate it through suction.
- Tumescent Liposuction: Performed the same way as the Super-wet technique, although the Tumescent method uses a greater volume of solution, therefore takes longer.
- Ultrasound Liposuction: Utilizing ultrasound energy, the fatty deposits are melted down before they are removed.
